The poor
“Behold my beloved poor”! At the centre of the gift God granted to Magdalene are the little ones, the disadvantaged, the abandoned with whom Christ identifies himself – “[…] you have done it to me.” (Mt. 25:40). A Marchioness and a lady, Magdalene recognizes in the poor her masters, the ones to whom we owe all our care, affection and fatigue.
