Our Foundress
Magdalene Gabriella of Canossa (1774-1835), a Marchioness of the city of Verona (Italy), is a Saint of the Church of God. Setting out on her journey of life, Magdalene is led through the paschal mystery to the imitation of Christ. From the pomp of the nineteenth century nobility, she chose to be known not only as a Daughter of Charity but also a Servant of the Poor. She was a woman whose dreams combined the human and the divine in a lively and resourceful imagination which were then concretized in many new initiatives. What she did not invent for the love of God and neighbour!
Magdalene, a Saint, a woman full of strong feminine instinct, was always able to explore the unexpected paths of hope for a better future.
