Pastoral care of the sick
“To comfort, instruct and assist” [Unabridged Rule 1981 page 166] is the threefold action of Magdalene of Canossa in her approach to the sick person. She invites her Sisters to serve Jesus in those who suffer and to contemplate his solidarity with human weakness. In order to lead the sick to experience God’s goodness, “it is better to treat them with gentleness, cordiality and at the same time a certain reverence.”
